The worst of the military

One of the worst of the military

More than 6,000 goats and pigs are intentionally maimed.

The Department of Defense says trainers slice open live animals and saw off their limbs in order to train medics in how to treat human injuries.

Dr. James Santos is a retired Lieutenant Commander in the Navy and a physician. And after working with real patients in the field and at the Naval Medical Center, he knows that operating on live animals did not train him in how to treat real, complex human injuries.

But worst of all not only is this kind of animal cruelty unnecessary, it could actually make medics less prepared to treat real human injuries.

Please ever if you have never signed one before, will you sign this petition?

Salmonella Diamond Pet Foods recall once again

Diamond Pet Foods recalls batch of dry dog food over possible salmonella issues at SC plant

The product was distributed to customers in 10 states: Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.

Salmonella concerns prompted Missouri-based Diamond Pet Foods to recall a second batch of dry dog food produced at a South Carolina plant where production has been suspended, the company announced Thursday.

The plant in Gaston, S.C., is the same one that made mold-contaminated food that killed dozens of dogs nationwide in 2005.

The company said the recall includes Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Adult Light Formula dry dog food.

The Meta, Mo.-based company said one bag tested positive for salmonella, and the recall of four production codes is being conducted as a precautionary measure. No dog illnesses have been reported.

The product was distributed to customers in 10 states: Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.

Production was suspended April 8 at the Gaston plant after a recall two days earlier involving a different product, Diamond Naturals Lamb Meal & Rice dry dog food.

A cat food recall at the plant in 2009 was prompted because the food didn’t contain enough thiamine, an essential nutrient for cats.

The latest recall covers the following production codes:

— Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul 35 lb. CLF0102B31XCW 27/JAN/2013, CLF0102B32XWR 28/JAN/2013

— Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Adult Light Formula 35 lb. CLF0102B31XCW 28/JAN/2013

— Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul 6lb. CLF0102B3XALW 28/JAN/2013

The company said customers should stop feeding the food in question to their pets and discard it.

Various Black Bears?

Black Bears are not various killers, they will fight if you push them hard into a corner, are wounded or are protecting their cubs.

That mother bear ( we killed) only nipper that lady in the butt just to get her and her dog away from the cub.

We do not need to give Florida hunters any more reasons to kill them.

Two orphaned black bear cubs are waking up in a new home.

The baby bears were found on Eglin Air Force base in the panhandle over the weekend.

They are only about 9 weeks old and weigh less than seven pounds each.

Florida Fish and Wildlife determined they were orphans and took them to the Black Bear Rehabilitation Center in Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park FLORIDA

Four Bearish good weather announcers

You must See This:

Bears invade TV set

A weather anchor in Pennsylvania found it "unbearable" to do his forecast and he had four furry reasons not to.

The backyard set for a Pennsylvania TV station's weather forecasts was taken over by four bears on Monday.

The weather guy went out to update viewers on the unseasonably cold weather and snow in the region and found himself nose-to-nose with a black bear.

He decided he'd do the forecast inside the studio.

Gopher tortoises no longer buried alive, but will relocation save them?

Gopher tortoises

Gopher tortoises no longer buried alive, but will relocation save them?

Florida's approach to saving gopher tortoises from extinction a decade ago allowed developers to bury the docile reptiles alive in their burrows in return for what critics called "blood money" that was used to buy and protect tortoise habitat elsewhere.

Thousands of tortoises a year were sentenced to death at the height of Florida's building boom, with Orange County leading the way. Opposition from environmentalists and animal-rights advocates finally brought a halt to the state's "pay to pave" program in 2007 — just as the nationwide housing slump and Great Recession brought a halt to most new construction, anyway.

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/images/pixel.gifThe Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission allows developers to move tortoises that are blocking construction just a short distance to an undisturbed area of the same development tract. Most of the time, though, developers pay the owners of designated ranches, timberland and other largely natural landscapes to take in tortoises from construction sites.

To get paid for adopting these long-living land dwellers, those landowners must permanently designate their acreage as green space and ensure it remains healthy — not overgrown with brush, for example — as tortoise habitat.

a $1,000 payment to the owner of the relocation site.

"Jurassic Park bill"

Despite veto, Florida habitats still in jeopardy

By Bill Maxwell

As a long time follow of Mr. Maxwell I assume that someday you may get tired of my quoting him?

Oh Well, get over it because he is spot on once again!

I know that the bill was vetoed please read on to see why?

Florida's shortsightedness and greed have always guided our leaders. they have been responsible for paving over our grasslands, butchering our mangroves, backfilling our swamps, gouging our shorelines, damming our rivers and bulldozing our trees, other than that they are just your Norman politicians.

Now ever though our governor has vetoed this, as bill has put it, "Jurassic Park bill"

Gov. Rick Scott believes state law already allows the governor, Cabinet and the five water management districts to lease state lands for purposes deemed constitutional.

WHAT?

This is the man that is in office to help save this state?

I've had my site hosted there for about 5 years now. I've had a couple of problems, where my site and all my files dissapeared for a few days, but they were back with no problems after sending a few frantic emails. Customer support pretty much sucks. You get the stanard "refer to online help" which is so confusing it can drive you mad. Over all, I'm still a pretty basic webmaster, so it's easy to use file manager has been good for me. With as little as $4.95 a month, you get to ditch the pop ups and ads on your site. The pop ups if not will drive you mad. It's not one per page, but more like 3 minimum.

They have a new plan where you can get a domain name and be hosted there, which I'm trying with a different account. I am happy with it so far, except their subdomains. You can link to your subdomain, except it shows in your browser window as the TRIPOD name, instead of your real subdomain. Otherwise it's still your basic tripod file structure which is great for me.

White House Pets Laddie Boy (An Airedale)

How fitting is this, the first recognized pet in the White House Family is an Airedale.

There were many presidential pets before him, Laddie Boy was the first to receive regular coverage from newspaper reporters.

Laddie Boy's got a huge amount of attention in the press. There have been famous dogs since, but never anything like this."

During their time in the White House, from 1921 to 1923, the Hardings included their dog in almost every aspect of their daily lives. When Harding golfed with friends, Laddie Boy tagged along. During cabinet meetings, the dog sat in (perched on his own chair). At fundraising events, the first lady frequently had Laddie Boy make appearances. The dog was such a prominent White House personality that the Washington Star and the New York Times seemed to run stories about the terrier almost daily in the months after Harding took office.Born on July 26, 1920, at the Caswell Kennels in Toledo, Ohio, Laddie Boy was 6 months old when he arrived at the White House on March 5, 1921, the day after Harding's inauguration.

When is an Endangered animal not an Endangered animal?

When members of the officials at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service stand to profit from a contractor?

Sand skinks have turned up in eight Lake County projects

Sand skinks inhabit the Lake Wales Ridge, which stretches from Polk and Highland counties into south Lake, as well as the Mount Dora Ridge, a section of high sandy soils in northern Lake and Marion.

According to a state report, it's estimated that 90 percent of the sand skink habitat has been lost to development or was converted into citrus groves.

Officials at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are reviewing the company's proposal and are allowing public comment on it through April 23. People can email for more information and to offer comments at northflorida@fws.gov, using "Attn: permit number TE65123A-0" in the message subject line.

Are Airedale the best dog?

Kelowna British Columbia Canada

Is the Airedale the best dog ever?

This all depends on what you are looking for?

Are you looking for a pet that will greet you at the door with your pipe and slipper?

Find another pet.

Are you looking for a friend that will love and want to be with you always, think Airedale.

Are you looking for a pet that will play fetch with you?

Think another pet, unless you do not mind fetching what you throw?

My only exception is Breanna, she will fetch until both of your arm fall off.

Then she will go find a soccer ball and fetch it to you.

Do you want a friend that will keep you on your toes every day?

Do you want a friend that will always play mind games with you just to keep you from getting board?

Do you want a protector of you, your family and your property?

You then need to study up on, ask questions to owner and think Airedale!

As you can clearly see from this blog.

Breanna is in no way Spoiled, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Airedale problems

Airedales have problems with their hip.

They also have problems with germs

I believe that the reason our Airedales have these problem is, for far too long they were bred as show dogs.

Each show demands perfection of the animal, each owner wants pure Airedale, this  is called inbreeding and it is wrong!

Airedales immune system is now so weak that it has problems fighting germ!

Think about the Pharaohs (kings) of Egypt.

They became extinct because of inbreeding ( conquered from within) in other words, they married in family!

Welcome to the visitor from your country, hope that you found what it was that you were looking for?

Postings are added often so come back whenever because you are always welcome.

An idea way behind its time

Lake commissioners to decide whether to ban dog tethering

April 8, 2012

TAVARES — Pet owners soon could be prohibited from tying up their dog in the yard while they're at work or running errands.

County commissioners are eyeing pulling in the reins on unattended tethering after receiving complaints about dogs tied up all day during extreme weather.

As a pet loving owner and living in Lake county we get to see the thousands of abused dogs tethered out in all types of weather from a Florida cold to Florida's extremely hot and everything in between.

Maybe these commissioners should ask these dogs what they think about this treatment.

Better idea, before voting you go get tethered for a year or so!

Airedale dog on steam engine photo.

San Diego California

Thank you for the visit to our blog posting looking for

Airedale dog on steam engine photo.

On this trip over to the lake Breanna did not go on the train, she wanted nothing to do with that big thing.

We stopped in at Al's Landing for diner out on their patio, pet friendly, we could see the boats, the seaplanes landing and taking off and some came right up on land into a parking lot.

However, when this old wood stoker train passed by about 50 feet from our table she lost it and just had to give that thing a big WHAT FOR!

Funniest thing you could ever see.

Today we drove by the tracks, when she saw it again she just had to let it know not to come into the car or else! LOL

Thanks again for the visit Happy Easter!

God Bless
